Demie made her first on-screen appearance as a video vixen in Azealia Banks' "ATM Jam" music video in 2013.
In 2015, she landed the lead role in The Godmother, a canceled biopic on Colombian drug kingpin Griselda Blanco, after starring in a short film for a friend.
Her professional acting career began with a role in the short film Miles in 2015, which led to her being signed to an agency.

in Jonah Hill's 2018 film Mid90s, which he wrote and directed. After Demie failed to get a part in Augustine Frizzell's 2018 film Never Going Back, Frizzell emailed her about an audition for the HBO drama series Euphoria, which she was directing the pilot episode of.
Despite her plans to take a break from acting to focus on her music career, she was intrigued by the series' premise and chose to audition for it. In 2019, she debuted as Maddy Perez on Euphoria, a confident, smart, and popular adolescent in an abusive, on-again, off-again relationship with insane football quarterback Nate Jacobs.
Critics dubbed Demie the breakthrough star of Euphoria.
Demie went on to play Alexis in the 2019 film Waves.
In 2020, she also starred in the comedy-drama film Mainstream.
Ryan Simpkins wrote and directed the short film Nineteen on Fire, which will be released in 2021.
In August 2021, Demie starred in and directed the video for JMSN's single "Love 2 U." She starred in the music video for JMSN's song "Act Like I'm Not Here" and released the single "Leopard Limo (Archive LL11)" in September 2021.
Demie and photographer Petra Collins collaborated on Fairy Tales, a collection of sensual short stories written with Collins and including photographs of Demie disguised as various mythological animals taken by Collins, which was released by Rizzoli in November 2021.
She is expected to appear in the upcoming animated series Fables as a voice actress.
